Eric Nord

Location: Lemont, Pennsylvania, USA

I’m a plant ecologist who studies crop plants, and I take a special interest in their roots. I’m interested in learning about how agroecosystems can be made more sustainable (net producers). I’m happily married to Andrea Nord, and we have have two children. I spent most of my formative years in Asia and Central America, where I had the opportunity to witness subsistence farmers at work, and get some idea of what life is like outside the bubble of the industrialized urban world. After completing a graduate degree at PSU, Andrea and I spent three years working in rural western Honduras with Mennonite Central Committee, focusing on environmental aspects of rural development projects. I’ve since become interested in teaching as a vocation, and completed another degree at PSU. I’m in a holding pattern in Happy Valley while Andrea and I apply for teaching jobs.
