Carbon Conservation Competition

The general gist of the idea…

A website that logs pledges and progress for energy conservation (and possibly growing to include water or food) would help individuals and family units document their personal contributions to regional conservation. This website would combine the basic functions of a carbon footprint calculator with a database function that can aggregate across neighborhoods, townships, and counties. Thus, people would be able to see that their “little” contributions DO add up to big savings and this would motivate them to keep up their improvements. Friendly competitions between similar neighborhoods (or industries, or companies, or municipal governments…) could further motivate the conservation actions people take.
