Well lets clarify the first question you’re probably wondering – and no, my name sadly is not Spud – it’s actually Steve. But before I was born when my mom realized that I looked like a baby potato in her baby books, I’ve been known as Spud and it’s stuck. But who could complain with a name like Spud.
After asking for the story of how I got the name Spud, the next question people often ask is what I do in life. I am a sustainability consultant, social entrepreneur, and big believer in the power of good people. I am an engineer who has strayed and found his passion within the growing sustainability movement as a changemaker. Over the past few years, I have received a Master’s degree in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability from Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden and an Honors degree in Engineering from Penn State University.
Despite the task at hand, I seem to have a knack for finding myself in different countries around the world and love sharing in the stories of so many different people. I have an obsessive passion for fog machines and believe strongly that this generation has the ability to truly change the world and make a significant difference for the future. Little discourages me and my faith, family and friends are what keep me ticking.
Regardless of what I find myself doing, my ultimate desire is to find ways to introduce people to the concept of sustainability and to uncover innovative ways for incorporating those concepts into our businesses, studies, and personal lives. It’s definitely a challenge – but one of the most rewarding journey’s I’ve ever been on! Will you join me on the adventure…
